Activities Galore! JMU will become a new home with its many on-campus activities, things to see and do in Harrisonburg and the surrounding county, and the attractions of the nearby Appalachian Trail, the Shenandoah River, and the mountains of West Virginia.
The academic and social lives of our students are further enhanced by participation in the JMU Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery; the ACM is the national and international professional organization for computer scientists. Chapter activities include visiting speakers, picnics, parties, the annual programming contest and many other activities.
About James Madison University Established in 1908, James Madison University currently has an enrollment of approximately 11,000 and a faculty of more than 600. The numbers of men and women students are about equal.The university is named for James Madison, fourth president of the United States and "Father of the Constitution."
