Incoming First-Year Students
Computer Science Department Scholarships
The Computer Science Department has a number of scholarships that are awarded to incoming first year students who are committed to the Computer Science major at James Madison University. There are several different scholarships, all of which are awarded on the basis of merit, not need. To apply for one of these scholarships, fill in the online form and submit it either electronically or by mail. Awards will be made first to students who are "admitted early" in February and, funds permitting, to other admitted applicants in April of each year. JMU Bluestone Scholarships
JMU offers several merit-based awards to Freshman applicants through the Bluestone Scholarship Program.
Micron Science and Technology Scholars Program
Each year, Micron offers merit-based scholarships to awards to one male and one female student from Virginia. For more information see the Micron Science and Technology Scholars Program page
Rising Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors
Computer Science Department Scholarships
The Computer Science Department has several different scholarships that are awarded to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors majoring in computer science. Students are notified each year when applications are due using the departmental e-mail list (see http://listserv.jmu.edu/archives/jmucs-l.html ). Rising Juniors and Seniors
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
This foundation was created to "provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in these fields." Rising Seniors
Google Anita Borg Scholarship
Awarded to encourage women to "excel in computing and technology and become active role models and leaders.". For more information see the Google Anita Borg Scholarships page
All Students
Microsoft Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to recipients for one academic year. The scholarship will cover 100 percent of tuition for the academic year as posted by the financial aid office of the university or college. The scholarships are made through the designated school and are not transferable to other academic institutions. The funds are to be used for tuition only and may not be used for other costs on the recipient's bursar bill. For more information see the Microsoft Scholarships page
